Loving Our Neighbors in Uncertain Times

Recent conversations around Delaware’s economy have raised concerns about rising costs, workforce challenges, housing instability, and the growing pressure many families are facing just to make ends meet. In her article, “Delaware’s Economy: The Truth Is Concerning”, Jane Brady highlights the reality that many individuals and communities are struggling under financial strain.

At Love INC, these realities are not just statistics. They are the stories we hear every day from neighbors facing homelessness, families choosing between groceries and utility bills, single parents working multiple jobs, and individuals searching for hope after unexpected setbacks.

While economic debates often focus on policy and projections, we believe transformation also happens at the community level. It happens when churches, businesses, and individuals unite to serve. It happens when volunteers walk alongside someone rebuilding their life. It happens when a neighbor is reminded they are seen, valued, and not alone.

Even in difficult seasons, hope grows in small, faithful acts. Through partnerships with local churches, businesses, donors, and volunteers, we’ve seen lives transformed across Sussex County and Mid-Delmarva. Seventy seven individuals have moved from homelessness into stable housing. Neighbors have gained mentorship, practical support, and renewed purpose. Communities become stronger when people choose to care for one another.

No matter what challenges our economy faces, the call to love our neighbors remains the same. And together, we can continue building a community where hope is stronger than hardship.
