“It’s All Love Here”: Amira’s Journey Toward Stability
When Amira first began looking for resources in her community, she wasn’t sure where to turn. As a single mother raising two children, she was facing uncertain circumstances.
She had been living with family, but things didn’t go as planned. Eventually, Amira found herself staying at a local Days Inn with her two children, trying to figure out what came next.
Life was difficult. The job she had paid just enough that she didn’t qualify for food benefits, yet not enough to make everything feel manageable. She was working, parenting, and trying to keep her family afloat while facing the uncertainty of where they would live next.
That’s when Amira found Love INC of Mid-Delmarva.
After reaching out to the Connection Center, she met Karen, one of Love INC’s case managers. Instead of simply receiving a list of resources, Amira was given something more: a plan.
Love INC worked with Amira to identify the steps she needed to take to build a more stable foundation for herself and her children.
Then, she got to work.
As Amira accomplished each goal, she would check in with her case manager and provide updates. Little by little, the pieces began coming together. But the journey wasn’t without its difficult moments.
Amira expressed that there were times when she wanted to give up. Times when she cried alone, wondering if she could really make it through. During those moments, Love INC was there to help provide some breathing room.
Love INC helped Amira and her children with Christmas, connected her with the food pantry, and provided support when things were especially hard. These resources gave her the opportunity to get ahead while she continued doing the work necessary to create lasting stability.
For Amira, it wasn't just about receiving help. It was about having someone walk alongside her while she worked toward something better.
“It’s All Love Here”
One of the things that stood out most to Amira was how she felt when she walked through Love INC’s doors. She said it felt like having another person who understood what she was going through without judging her.
She never felt like an inconvenience. Instead, she felt cared for. “It’s all love here,” Amira said. That feeling meant something to her. When life had already made her feel like she was carrying the weight of the world, having someone listen, understand, and help her take the next step made a difference.
Now, Amira hopes more people in the community can experience that same kind of love.
Looking back on everything, Amira knows there were plenty of moments when giving up seemed easier than continuing, but she kept going. She credits God for carrying her through the moments when she wasn't sure she could carry herself. Her message to others is simple:
“Keep God first...God is always bigger. He truly is.”
Amira's story is a reminder that stability doesn't always happen overnight. Sometimes it comes through one phone call, one plan, one goal, and one step at a time. Sometimes, what a person needs most is to know they don't have to take those steps alone.
At Love INC of Mid-Delmarva, we believe every neighbor deserves to be met with dignity, compassion, and love. Through case management, accountability, practical resources, and a community willing to walk alongside those in need, we can help create pathways toward lasting change.
Because sometimes, a little support can create the space someone needs to do the hard work of rebuilding. And sometimes, that support sounds exactly like Amira's words:
“It’s all love here.”
