A Mother's New Beginning
Every family deserves a safe place to call home. For one mother and her two children, that dream felt out of reach for much of 2025.
When she first connected with Love INC of Mid-Delmarva, she was experiencing homelessness and staying temporarily with family in an unstable living situation. Although she was grateful to have a roof over her head, the arrangement was uncertain and placed significant stress on both her and her children.
Finding affordable housing proved incredibly difficult. Time after time, doors closed. Housing programs had limited availability, shelters could not accommodate her situation, and application after application ended without success.
But our Case Management team didn't stop advocating for her.
Together, they completed more than 28 housing applications, searched for every available opportunity, and continued pursuing options even when the process felt discouraging. Along the way, her family also received practical support through our Connection Center, Clothing Closet, GAP Ministries, and holiday outreach programs, helping meet immediate needs while they searched for permanent housing.
Like many journeys out of crisis, the road wasn't perfectly straight. There were setbacks, missed appointments, and periods when communication became difficult. Yet our team remained committed to walking alongside her whenever possible, continuing to advocate and open doors.
Then came the phone call everyone had been hoping for.
Months after her case had been closed, she reached out with wonderful news: she and her two children had finally moved into a place they could call home. Our 88th neighbor in the past three years was housed.
Stories like this remind us that transformation doesn't always happen on our timeline. Sometimes the seeds of hope planted through persistent encouragement, practical support, and faithful advocacy continue to grow long after a case file is closed.
Today, one more family has exchanged uncertainty for stability, and homelessness for home.
