Today we celebrate our 112th neighbor move from homeless to stable housing! Because of our programs of love and accountability, diligent community members, and support from countless church, business, and individual partners, this family will have A Home for the Holidays.
After being forced to leave their home, the LaFleur family wasn’t sure where to turn or what the future would hold.
A family of four, consisting of a grandmother, mother, and two daughters, had always worked hard to provide for themselves. Both the mother and grandmother were employed at a local poultry company.
Through help from a member of a local church, Joann, the family was connected with Love INC of Mid-Delmarva where our case manager worked with them to develop a plan and path forward. Joann also walked alongside the family throughout the entire process. From helping them get important appointments to offering consistent encouragement, Joann made sure they didn't have to navigate this season alone.
The family eventually moved into Love INC’s transitional housing program at Hope House, where they had a safe place to stay and an opportunity to save money and plan for the future.
Through their hard work and determination, the LaFleur family was able to save enough to move into a home of their own!
There is even more to celebrate. Their oldest daughter graduated from high school this year and hopes to pursue a career in the medical field. She also participated in our Faith & Finances class, where she gained confidence handling her finances to be a good steward of her income going forward. With greater stability and the tools to manage her finances, she can continue pursuing her goals and working toward her dream.
The LaFleur family’s story is a reminder that moving from homelessness to housing is so much more than just finding a place to live. It's about creating opportunities for families to rebuild in a way that will last, pursue their goals, and look toward the future with hope.
