A New Home After Months of Uncertainty
When a neighbor and his son lost their housing after their landlord passed away and their lease was not renewed, they tried relocating from Lewes to Salisbury to stay with relatives. When that arrangement fell through, they found themselves living in a hotel.
After connecting with Love INC, they were introduced to several team members, including Case Manager Karen. With her support, they moved into transitional housing while his son enrolled in a program for children experiencing homelessness. This allowed him to remain at the same school, providing much-needed stability during a difficult season.
While working at FedEx, this neighbor remained committed to keeping his appointments with Karen. Together, they developed a plan and completed numerous housing applications, taking one step at a time toward a more stable future.
Finally, the call came. The housing department notified him that he had been approved for housing.
After six months of uncertainty, hard work, accountability, and prayer, this father and son moved into their new home. Our 102nd neighbor has moved from homeless to housed.
Their story is a reminder of what can happen when a neighbor is met with support, encouragement, accountability, and a plan for lasting change.
This family will now have A Home for the Holidays because of our community members that partner alongside us. If you would like to be a part of this impact, join or share our Love Your Neighbor Membership.
