Cross Happenings July

July was a busy month at the C.R.O.S.S. (Community Resource & Occupational Service Station), where we distributed over 730 lunches to neighbors in need. Each lunch bag contained protein bars, canned proteins, a snack, a fruit cup, a sandwich, and a water bottle. Our wonderful volunteers performed this task 5 days a week. We also distributed 19 food bags packed with all the nutritional needs for two adults to eat over a two-week span. We gave out six hotel bags (comparable to the food bags) to neighbors in need of staying at hotels or motels. It took a great deal of effort and coordination to provide all the bags mentioned above; from volunteers answering the phone, volunteers packing the bags, and volunteers handing the bags off to those who needed them.

We had a bountiful harvest of fresh produce from our own garden planted by a team of volunteers from partner church Grace Seaford and tended to by a team of volunteers weekly. Our volunteers also worked tirelessly to get our building ready for a complete re-opening in a post pandemic world. We are still working hard to prepare a space for everyone as we contemplate post-pandemic life. None of this would be possible without volunteers cleaning the C.R.O.S.S., Distribution Center, and Clearinghouse; keeping them free of bugs and dirt, sorting and putting away donations at the C.R.O.S.S. and Distribution Center, entering data to keep track of all we do, answering the calls and scheduling clients from the Clearinghouse. Our volunteers make this all possible every month. We are so thankful for them!
